Day 10 – Sandnes to Nordkapp to Solvang 🏍️❄️

Longest Day So Far!
We rolled out of the campsite at 08:15 in a steady drizzle 🌧️ — waterproofs on again! Today’s goal was Nordkapp, a 5 hour 40 minute ride ahead. We decided to push for 2½ hours before stopping for breakfast.
Alta was our first pause ⛽ — a Circle K hotdog packed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, our guilty pleasure on this trip! With fuel in our stomachs and tanks, we pressed on toward the northernmost point of Europe.
The Road to Nordkapp 🌍
The ride had everything — sweeping fjord bends, high mountain passes, and stretches of Arctic tundra where we met our first reindeer 🦌 grazing by the roadside… and a couple boldly standing right in the middle!
The drizzle turned to fog and low cloud as we approached Nordkapp. For over 100 km visibility was so poor we nearly turned around. Visors steamed up, glasses fogged over — the only way to ride was visors open, glasses off, icy rain stinging our faces like needles ❄️. But we weren’t giving up.
Finally at the Top of Europe 🏆
After 4,463 km of riding, we made it! We paid the entrance fee, dashed inside to warm up, and demolished coffee and waffles ☕🧇. A kind stranger snapped our photo at the famous Globe Monument — a true bucket-list moment.
The Long Road South Begins ⬇️
We left Nordkapp in the same miserable rain and fog. But as we descended, the weather broke — a massive black cloud above us, sunlight on the horizon 🌤️. The return route followed the same road as the morning, but now we could finally see it, and what a sight it was.
A quick refuel stop for both bikes and riders 🛢️🍔, then we decided to chew through another 100 km to get a head start on tomorrow’s big push into Sweden 🇸🇪. We finally found a campsite in Solvang, tired but thrilled.
Tomorrow promises another long ride — and maybe a new record day in the saddle!
