Day 13 – Hede to Jevnaker 🏍️

Early Start, Big Day Ahead 🌅
After a decent night’s sleep and no tents to pack down (we had a cabin), we set off early knowing a big day was ahead. Leaving the Swedish straight, tree-lined roads — fast but not that exciting — we crossed back into Norway. We planned to grab a border sign photo, but there weren’t any signs to be found!
From Arctic Chill to Cold Rain ❄️
Having left the Arctic Circle and riding further south, temperatures started to rise slightly — but we still had rain and a cold wind to deal with. Passing through the so-called “Reindeer Area,” we expected fields full of life… but not a single reindeer in sight, so we pressed on toward our destination.
Off-Road Challenge in the Forest 🌲
Towards the end of the day, we’d planned a little off-roading on fully loaded touring bikes. As we turned off the tarmac, we paused to consider our options. The decision was unanimous — go for it! The track turned out to be just under 10 km of twisting forest trail, complete with hairpins and even cows to dodge. It was a relief to see tarmac again — and a great confidence boost for what lies ahead.
Finding a Place to Sleep ⛺
With no campsite pre-booked, we kept riding until we came across Solvika Camping in Jevnaker. Reception was closed (a recurring theme on this trip), so we pitched up and cooked dinner as darkness fell.
Tomorrow’s Plan 🔧
Tomorrow is our last night in Norway, and one of the bikes needs a tyre to make it home. Tonight we started searching for a dealer and adjusting our route to fit it in.
