🏕️ Day 14: Jevnaker to Lovøya – 263 km of Leisure & Tyres!
After a few big mileage days, today was a more relaxed ride – but with one big mission: a new rear tyre! Before we could set off, we had to wait for reception to open and settle up for our pitch. It was a chilly but dry start to the day, so spirits were high as we geared up for the ride.
🏙️ A Quick Detour to Oslo
We decided to head into Oslo, the capital of Norway, simply because we could! The city was busy but scenic to ride through, with its mix of modern and historic architecture. Then came the tunnels – lots of them! They were long, busy, and the road system was… let’s just say confusing. But we got through it in the end!
🔧 Mission Tyre: Ducati Holmestrand
Next stop was Ducati Holmestrand in search of that all-important rear tyre. We arrived at 15:30, and the team could not have been more helpful. Within minutes, the bike was in the workshop getting a new tyre, plus a complimentary chain clean and lube! While we waited, we asked about brake pads for the other bike. They didn’t have any in stock, but they kindly gave us some used ones as an emergency backup. Top service! 👏
🛒 Supplies & Drinks Run
With the bike sorted, we hit Horten to stock up. First stop was Rema 1000 for food, then the all-important Vinmonopolet – the only place in Norway where you can buy alcohol over 4.7% ABV. The Captain (our rum) was empty, so this was a critical mission! 🏴☠️
🏕️ Campsite with a Fjord View
Supplies secured, we searched for a campsite and found Lovøya Oslofjord Camping – right on the fjord! A storm was forecast, so the staff gave us a pitch near a huge canopy for extra shelter. We set up camp, fired up the BBQ, and even made a campfire as we settled down for our last night in Norway. 🔥
Tomorrow, we ride to Kristiansand to catch the ferry to Denmark – the start of our final leg home! 🇳🇴➡️🇩🇰
