Day 15 – Lovøya to Hirtshals
Distance: 336 km – Riding time: 5 hours 41 minutes
Our final day in Norway… and we allowed ourselves a nice relaxed start — some might say too relaxed! With only a short ride down to Kristiansand for the ferry, we thought we had plenty of time.
The morning roads were a joy — the new tyre felt perfect, tipping beautifully into every bend and making the ride down to the coast feel effortless.
First stop was the tax-free shop to claim back some VAT, but that’s when time slipped away from us. As we rolled into town, the main road was closed due to demonstration marches — starting with Palestine and finishing with Gay Pride. No way through on the bikes, so we parked up and crossed the street on foot… by joining the Pride march! 🌈
Refunds processed, we squeezed in a quick coffee before heading straight to the ferry. Dinner on board gave us a welcome chance to sit back, refuel and watch Norway slip away over the horizon.
The crossing was smooth and before we knew it, Norway was behind us and we were rolling into Denmark. With Sunday looming (and supermarkets closed), our first task was to stock up on supplies for tonight and tomorrow. Then it was off to find a campsite. Tents pitched, gear unpacked — time to relax before tomorrow’s full day of riding to Germany, back to the very campsite we stayed at two weeks ago.
Tomorrow the home stretch begins…
