📍 Day – Forsand Norway
🗓️ Date: 11th August 25
🏍️ Route: Kristiansand Norway ➡ Forsand Norway
📏 Distance Covered: 244 km
🕒 Riding Time: 9 hours 5 minutes
🌤️ Weather: Wet with high of 17 degrees
📸 Today’s Highlights:
- 🏞️ Scenic Roads: We headed north on Road 9 and then cut across onto Road 42. Both were superb, serving up long sweeping bends that had the bikes purring, even if the scenery was softened by rain and low cloud.
- 📷 Must-see Spot: Øygardstøl – A Lunar Pit Stop
- We rolled into Øygardstøl for a quick photo stop. The rocky, mist-shrouded landscape looked like something straight from the Moon—Norway’s own slice of space scenery.
- 🍽️ Breaks: The day started with a solid breakfast in Kristiansand. A good meal is essential before tackling Norwegian roads, especially when the sky looks like it’s about to throw a wet blanket over your ride (spoiler: it did). Coffee & pastry stop was Hekta Bakery Sirdal
- 🛑 Fuel : Only the 1 fuel stop today at Kvin Log
🧠 Thoughts from the Road:
Lysebotn – Hairpins Galore 🔄
From the top, we paused at the café for more photos before taking on the legendary 17 hairpins that drop dramatically into the Sirdal Valley. It’s the kind of road that demands focus, finesse, and a little bit of faith in your brakes.
Ferry to Forsand 🚢
At the bottom, the rain was still persistent. Rather than slog through it, we decided on a tactical retreat—catching the ferry to Forsand for the night.
The Day’s Wild Card 🎭
While waiting for the ferry, we met a true one-of-a-kind character—a local who had legally changed his name to Tottenham Hotspur purely out of football devotion. Proof once again: on a motorbike adventure, the people you meet are as unforgettable as the roads you ride.
🛌 Tonight’s Stay:
🏨 Location: Landa Park Forsand where we choose a cabin for the night
🧼 Amenities: Shower block, toilets & washing up facilities
