Day 9 – Lødingen to Sandnes 🏍️

Riding Time: 7 hours 10 minutes
Morning Start ☀️🌧️
We had a dry start today, but kept the waterproofs close to hand — just as well, because within 30 minutes the rain arrived! Leaving Lødingen, we headed north with no fixed destination in mind, just following the planned route until we found somewhere to stop for the night.
On the Road 🛣️
The ride was a real mix — tight switchbacks, long sweeping bends, and endless straight stretches. The contrasting landscapes kept things interesting all day.
Brunch Stop & Ferry Ride ⛴️
We discovered a brilliant little café, Alveland in Dverberg, for brunch before boarding the ferry from Andenes to Gryllefjord. It was a two-hour crossing and a choppy one at that — plenty of laughs as the bikes rocked on deck!
Sami Shop Experience 🦌🐋
Along the E6 we came across a Sami shop and had to take a look. Here we sampled Moose, Reindeer, and Whale. That’s one experience ticked off — and not to be repeated, lol! The shop sold everything you could possibly need… and plenty you really didn’t!
Evening Arrival & Food Hunt 🍔
Being Sunday, the shops shut early and supplies were hard to come by. Once we settled into a cabin on Sandnes Fjord, we headed back to Hansinkentta and grabbed a bite at Bias Café. They called it a hamburger… but who knows what it really was!
Looking Ahead ➡️
Tomorrow we reach Nordkapp — the northernmost point of our adventure — before turning south to begin the return leg of our journey.
